Most computers today are assembled pieces including computer parts from different manufacturers which work out cheaper than buying a branded computer from one supplier. Common parts include the computer monitor, or the screen or display, which is also the interface with the user allowing him to see what is going on. |
Monitors show the computer user the documents or calculations so that he knows what is happening and can work with ease.
Then there is the CPU, or the central processing unit, in which all the calculations and complex tasks are performed; that is why it is also called the brain of the computer. Equally important is the motherboard, which contains the central printed circuit board as well as the random access memory, which is responsible for running all current applications and processes.

Then there are the peripherals of computer parts that allow the user to externally control the computer. These include the mouse, or the pointing device which allows us to move on the screen, click and select objects. Then there are input devices like the keyboard, which, much like a typewriter, has keys for text and characters that allow us to enter information on the screen. Computer parts also include gaming devices like joysticks as well as several audio and video input devices.
Media devices, another important , are often detachable and can be used to store, input and copy information from the computer. All the various computer parts are required for effective functioning, and if even one develops a fault, many important functions cannot be performed. However, some are more important. For example, if the monitor or the CPU doesn't work, then almost nothing can be done. On the other hand, if the mouse fails, then the keyboard can take over. Basically some computer parts are not as indispensable as others.
It is a good idea to ensure that you buy from a supplier that guarantees maintenance, upgrade and repair services, as there is bound to be some problem or other during the life of the computer. Even if the computer works fine, you may want to add extra memory or processing power in due course and may require professional support for computer parts.
